Only a short 10 miles away from Felicita Resort, Harrisburg is conveniently located in the central part of Pennsylvania about midway between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. There are several large shopping malls and many small boutiques throughout the city and surrounding areas and Amish or local goods can be found with short explorations into neighboring townships. Harrisburg is very proud of its support of The Arts. The Harrisburg Symphony, conducted by Tony Award winner Stuart Malina, offers a series of programs throughout the year. The Whitaker Center contains a consistently excellent offering of exhibits, programs, theatre and receptions. The National Civil War Museum is situated in the heart of Harrisburg and is a great way to understand the Civil War either as a day's excursion or as a preview for a visit to Gettysburg, only an hour away. While at Felicita Resort, you can also enjoy the beauty of the Susquehanna River from Fort Hunter Park or Riverfront Park, both wonderful destinations only minutes from your lodge rooms, for sightseeing or an early morning jog. Recently, The Hollywood Casino, with slot play and horse racing, has opened its new facilities only a few miles up Fishing Creek Valley Road from Felicita. In fact, the route past Felicita is the shorter and more scenic drive between Route 322 West and the Casino. Simply exit on Route 443 and head east on Fishing Creek Valley Road. |
